Melbourne-based photographer Ben Thomas has traveled around the world and shot cities with the tilt-shift technique. The result are miniaturized cities that only increases more and more my aim to travel! And you?

BCN:MCR, Barcelona, Manchester and a design exhibition
art, designWhat comes first to your mind when you hear Barcelona and Manchester? Sun and rain. Right, it did the same thing to me. However, both cities have lived a sort of recovery in the last decades, bringing them to the national scheme in what design and culture refeers. Maybe the fact that they both have still an industrial past has somehow connected them and helped local artists to raise in any kind of art, from architecture to design.
This is why, besides its enormous differences, Manchester and Barcelona are closer that we might think, and this is what designer Dave Sefwick wants to show in an exhibition opening 21st January who will run for two weeks in the 2022 Northern Quarter coffee shop.
With the title BCN:MCR the exhibition will display the work of some innovative Barcelona design agencies such as Hey,Lamosca, Lo Siento, Mayúscula and Mucho. On the opening day there will be a talk with the artists and Dave Sefwick himself where they will make reflections concerning art, architecture and maybe even tapas or paella!
So if you’re around the city in those days don’t miss this event!
Here you have some art from the displaying agencies which I’m sure you’ll appreciate:

Photgraphy+Typography+Europe= always a good call
design, photography, tripsGokhun Guneyhan is a turkish designer who likes to travel around Europe making pictures. Yeah, I know there’s no big deal, we all do that, right? But what we don’t do is to go home, download the pictures and try to find a typography that perfectly matches the feel the city has (let’s face we’d be lucky if we get to name every folder with the name of the city the pictures where taken!). That’s probably what makes him different. And I guess also because the results are quite remarcable. I’ve been in most of the cities he’s displaying and I’ve felt somehow the same exact things his tipography shows:
Friday means fun!
friday means funHey there! How was your week people? Hope it ran smooth!
As usual, here you have a selection of pictures I always share on friday. If you are new in Fünf Gemüse and you wonder why this post is always like this is because it’s a selection of some images that have got my eye throughout the week and don’t have the time or enough reasons to give them a separate blog post. This is why this selection is so randomn and you can find from places I’d like to go, animals, fun images, crafts or just curiosities.
In any case, I hope you enjoy them! And I also want o give you a few fun links to complete the day before hitting the weekend!

Mathematic Street Art: Aakash Nihalani
artI have to admit that I’ve never been a maths person. In fact I pretty much hated it until I came across the work of Aakash Nihalani. His clever street art will lead more than one mathematic-sceptic to actually think there’s something creative in the bottom of this science.
If you’re in New York you can visit an exposition of this artist at Jonathan LeVine Gallery.
Luke Lucas: Typography master
crafts, designLuke Lucas is a typographer from Melbourne, Australia and, as he says in his portfolio that his main passion is to treat in a different way the same letters giving it different meanings.
I think he is damn right.
Posca marker light installation
designPosca markers are widely known for the artistic community. This iconic markers have helped artists recreate their ideas on paper. Combined with leds, the Melbourne based lightning shop Ambience has created an installation called Eye Spy, where Posca markers are presented like a colorful chandelier.
The aim of the artists who created the piece was to give Posca a recognision of its apportation to the land of art but also to show how easy is to create beautiful installations with recycled materials.
Thumbs up for Australians and its capacity to surprise and innovate!
